Description This contract, on-site, Associate-level position offers an excellent opportunity for an advanced practice provider to deliver high-quality urgent and emergent care within a dynamic Medical Practice setting. As a Locum NP/PA in Emergency Medicine, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients presenting with acute medical conditions. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely, evidence-based care that improves patient outcomes and supports smooth department operations. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive emergency medicine assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and differential diagnosis Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute illnesses or injuries Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, imaging, and ECGs Prescribe medications and perform procedures consistent with advanced practice licensure, scope of practice, and facility protocols Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate admission, transfer, or appropriate disposition Collaborate with emergency physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to provide seamless patient care Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) system Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care Adhere to emergency department protocols, infection prevention standards, and patient safety guidelines Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to efficient, compassionate emergency service delivery Requirements Associate-level clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with demonstrated competence in emergency, acute, or urgent care settings Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant(PA) licensure in the applicable state Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program with national board certification (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, or equivalent) strongly preferred Active DEA registration or eligibility required, with prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills for high-acuity patient presentations Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) documentation and computerized physician order entry Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Ability to manage multiple critical priorities, remain composed under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing situations Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, confidentiality, and professional ethical standards
