Experienced/Senior Clinical Provider Position Summary Resilient Reimagine, Inc. is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly qualified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to provide comprehensive psychiatric, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services to children, adolescents, adults, and families . The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of relevant clinical experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment and demonstrated experience working across multiple age groups. This position is responsible for psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication prescribing and management, ongoing psychiatric monitoring, crisis assessment, and coordination of care with therapists, counselors, medical providers, families, schools, hospitals, community organizations, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The PMHNP must be comfortable treating individuals with both mental health and substance use disorders , including patients with co-occurring conditions and complex behavioral health needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Psychiatric Assessment & Diagnosis Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments. Obtain and evaluate psychiatric, medical, psychosocial, developmental, substance use, medication, and family histories. Assess children, adolescents, adults, and families presenting with behavioral health concerns. Diagnose psychiatric and behavioral health conditions in accordance with current clinical standards. Evaluate patients for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Assess suicide risk, self-harm risk, violence risk, substance withdrawal risk, and other psychiatric emergencies. Order, review, and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing within the provider's scope of practice. Medication Management Prescribe, initiate, adjust, monitor, and discontinue psychiatric medications within the provider's authorized scope of practice. Provide ongoing medication-management appointments. Educate patients and families regarding medications, potential side effects, risks, benefits, alternatives, interactions, and adherence. Monitor treatment effectiveness, adverse reactions, medication compliance, and changes in psychiatric symptoms. Coordinate medication management with primary care physicians, specialists, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers when appropriate. Maintain compliance with applicable federal and Maryland requirements regarding prescribing and controlled substances. Mental Health Treatment Provide assessment and treatment for conditions that may include, but are not limited to: Depression and mood disorders Anxiety disorders Bipolar disorder ADHD Trauma and PTSD Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders Behavioral and emotional disorders Childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders Grief and adjustment disorders Personality disorders Sleep-related psychiatric conditions Co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders Substance Use Disorder Services Assess patients for alcohol and substance use disorders. Conduct substance use and co-occurring disorder evaluations. Develop individualized treatment recommendations. Provide medication management for substance use disorders when clinically appropriate, properly credentialed, and within scope of practice. Monitor recovery progress, relapse risks, withdrawal concerns, and medication adherence. Collaborate with substance use counselors, therapists, recovery specialists, residential programs, and community providers. Refer patients to higher levels of care, detoxification, residential treatment, hospitalization, or other specialized services when clinically necessary. Children, Adolescents & Family Services Conduct developmentally appropriate psychiatric evaluations. Work collaboratively with parents, guardians, caregivers, schools, therapists, and other providers. Incorporate family dynamics, developmental history, educational concerns, trauma history, and environmental factors into treatment planning. Educate parents and caregivers regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment expectations, warning signs, and behavioral interventions. Ensure appropriate consent and involvement of parents/guardians while protecting patient confidentiality as required by law. Treatment Planning & Care Coordination Develop and regularly update individualized treatment plans. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings and case consultations. Coordinate services with therapists, counselors, social workers, nurses, physicians, case managers, substance use professionals, and community providers. Make referrals for therapy, psychological testing, primary care, specialty medical services, residential treatment, hospitalization, crisis services, and community resources as appropriate. Facilitate continuity of care following hospitalization, crisis intervention, or changes in level of care. Crisis Intervention & Patient Safety Evaluate patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or behavioral health crises. Conduct suicide, homicide, self-harm, violence, and safety-risk assessments. Develop safety plans with patients and families. Determine when emergency evaluation, hospitalization, crisis response, or a higher level of care is clinically necessary. Follow organizational procedures and applicable reporting requirements involving abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other safety concerns. Documentation & Compliance Complete timely, accurate, comprehensive, and legally compliant clinical documentation. Maintain psychiatric evaluations, progress notes, medication records, treatment plans, consent documentation, and other required records. Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and services provided. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, organizational policies, payer requirements, Maryland regulations, and applicable federal requirements. Participate in quality assurance, utilization review, clinical audits, and performance-improvement activities. Maintain all required licenses, certifications, continuing education, credentialing, and professional liability requirements.
Required Qualifications Candidates must possess:
Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Current and unrestricted Maryland RN license or applicable multistate privilege. Current Maryland certification/authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the appropriate specialty. Current national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or equivalent psychiatric specialty certification recognized for practice in Maryland. Current authority and qualifications necessary to prescribe medications in Maryland. DEA registration when required for the medications prescribed by the position. Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience in psychiatric/behavioral healthcare. Demonstrated experience treating mental health disorders. Demonstrated experience working with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders. Experience serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology, medication interactions, contraindications, and monitoring requirements. Strong psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment-planning, and crisis-intervention skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary behavioral health team. Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with: Five or more years of direct PMHNP experience. Extensive experience with both psychiatric and substance use disorder populations. Experience treating pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations. Experience in outpatient behavioral health, crisis services, residential treatment, community mental health, or substance use treatment. Experience treating complex and co-occurring disorders. Experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment/medications for substance use disorder where applicable. Experience working with Medicaid and commercial insurance populations. Experience with Maryland behavioral health programs and regulatory requirements. Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. Schedule & Work Expectations This is a full-time, onsite position .
Required Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. The selected candidate must be available to work onsite during scheduled business hours and maintain a reliable and consistent presence to support patients, families, clinical staff, and continuity of care. Compensation Recommended Salary Range:
depending on experience, psychiatric specialization, credentials, substance use treatment expertise, and ability to provide services across pediatric and adult populations. Highly experienced candidates with advanced behavioral health, substance use, leadership, or specialized prescribing experience may warrant compensation at or above the upper end of the range.
