Job DescriptionThis PRN position covers the La Plata location. In the future, this will become a regional position covering La Plata and other regional clinical locations, with equal coverage across those locations.



UM Urgent Care providers serve as clinical leaders in our centers—delivering exceptional medical care, fostering outstanding patient experiences, and working collaboratively in a close-knit team environment with medical assistants and radiologic technologists. We care for patients ages one and older, treating a wide range of conditions including upper respiratory infections, sprains and strains, lacerations requiring sutures, employee health physicals, work-related injuries, and preoperative evaluations.



Providers work 12-hour clinical shifts (8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.). Urgent care is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that offers a broad spectrum of patient presentations, ranging from acute illness to minor injuries.



PRN providers are required to give at least 2 days of availability each month, with two of those days being weekends. All PRN providers must also give one day of availability each month to be the 'emergency on call' provider for all of our facilities.



QualificationsCandidates must be licensed Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants in good standing with the state of Maryland, or have licensure pending approval. An active NPI number, DEA registration, and CDS license are required, or the candidate must be in the process of obtaining them.



While not required, prior clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, intensive care, or primary care settings—whether as a provider, nurse, or technician—is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, enthusiastic about urgent care medicine, and open to feedback as part of their ongoing professional developmentAdditional InformationAt the start of employment, we provide side-by-side clinical training shifts to ensure new providers develop the hands-on procedural skills, core clinical knowledge, and EHR proficiency needed for success. Ongoing support is available at all times, with APP and physician leadership accessible by phone during all operating hours, ensuring providers are never without guidance when needed.
