Laurel, MD Openings:
1 position The ideal candidate is an NP/PA with experience evaluating and treating musculoskeletal conditions, including spine, muscle, joint, and extremity injuries. The provider should be comfortable establishing diagnoses, developing treatment plans, determining appropriate work restrictions, prescribing Durable Medical Equipment (DME), ordering diagnostic testing when appropriate, and completing detailed medical documentation within 24-48 hours. This position requires a provider who is comfortable reviewing the patient's history, mechanism of injury, examination findings, diagnostic testing, and medical records and providing clear, well-supported medical opinions regarding diagnosis, causation, treatment, work capacity, and ongoing care when appropriate. Occupational health, orthopedic, federal/state workers' compensation, pain management, urgent care, rehabilitation, veteran disability exams, or personal injury experience is a plus! Responsibilities and Duties Must be available for weekday hours. You would provide coverage for NP vacations, holidays, sick days, and other needed coverage days.
The NP/PA will:
Evaluate new and established patients with work-related musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Perform thorough physical examinations and document objective findings. Complete initial reports, follow-up examinations, and detailed patient narratives. Review relevant medical records, imaging, diagnostic testing, and prior treatment when necessary. Provide clear and medically supported opinions regarding diagnoses, relationship of conditions to the reported injury or work activities, treatment recommendations, and work capacity. Establish and update appropriate work restrictions based on the patient's clinical condition. Order appropriate diagnostic testing and refer patients to physical therapy, orthopedics/specialists, radiology, and other services as medically necessary. Prescribe appropriate Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Respond to reasonable requests for clarification or additional medical documentation when needed. Complete and close all charts within 24-48 hours of the patient encounter. The NP/PA collaborates closely with case managers and physical therapists to develop and maintain an appropriate plan of care for each patient while independently exercising clinical judgment regarding diagnosis and treatment. Must be able to work independently with little-to-no supervision, remain organized, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and have strong written communication skills. This position requires the ability to write clear, detailed medical narratives and explain the medical reasoning supporting diagnoses, treatment recommendations, work restrictions, and medical opinions.
Patient load:
~12+ patient cases per day In-office per diem No prescribing controlled substances or medications. Flexible scheduling!
Contract term:
1 year (renewable) Qualifications and Skills Must be licensed to practice in Maryland and Virginia.
