Sexual Health Mid-Level Provider (NP or PA) 629 Pioneer Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49008 $60
  • $70 an hour

  • Part-time Provides direct patient care for specialized populations including the delivery of primary care and HIV medical care for people living with HIV and the LGBTQ community in a small personal community clinic located in the Cares building in the Vine Neighborhood.
Examines, makes diagnosis and provides treatment for clinical patients including STI testing and treatment. This position will report to the Clinic Director and work alongside the Clinical Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant and Clinic case manager. Duties and Respopnsibilities Provide care for patients of all gender identities, including gender-affirming care. Construct an accurate assessment and treatment plan based on history, exam, and lab findings. Test and treat STI's and other infectious conditions. Provide PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance. Provide comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, including making appropriate referrals for substance abuse and behavioral health needs as needed. Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories. Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, labs and interpreting test results
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, managing wounds and infections. Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management strategies. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Protects patient and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Skills and Qualifications Candidate must be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan with no pending or previous disciplinary action from any state licensing entity. Complies with federal, state and local professional and legal requirements. Abilities Common sense and a commitment to excellent customer service and quality health care. Commitment to working with low-income and culturally diverse patients with an emphasis on health equity and empowerment. Good judgment to serve patients promptly, competently, and in a friendly manner. Treat complaints as opportunities to improve service. Ability to understand and demonstrate, in all interactions, the importance of high-quality care including accurate documentation and follow-up. Ability to maintain complete patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to work independently as well as consult with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings. Demonstrate a positive-attitude and willingness to assist team members at all times. Provide feedback to colleagues, staff, and managers in a professional, respectful, direct, and timely manner. Receive feedback professionally. Maintain professionalism through appropriate dress, manner, and behavior. Treat staff and patients with courtesy and respect at all times under all circumstances Ability to work in a busy environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and courtesy and respect to patients and staff. Ability to communicate effectively, make decisions, solve problems, and function as part of a team.
