Job Description

Purpose of Job This position is responsible for providing healthcare patient services aligned with education, training, competency, experience and demonstrates knowledge related to scope of practice. This job description serves as a practice agreement and will be reviewed annually by the physician assistant and collaborating/supervising licensed physician. See organizational policy for more details. Job Functions Assesses, diagnoses, provides and implements a treatment plan of care and follow up as needed.

Performs physical examinationsInterprets and evaluates patient dataOrders, performs or reviews diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresProvides instructions regarding patient care, disease prevention, and health promotionCreates and maintains appropriate patient records including transmitting or executing specific ordersPrescribes, administers and dispenses medications, controlled substances and medical devices as appropriateInitiates evaluation and treatment procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to emergency situationsAssists in surgery (if applicable)Works directly with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to obtain DEA registrationMaintains patient confidentialityPerforms other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environmentAbility to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned aboveAbility to multi-taskAbility to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills License/Certifications Current Minnesota NP or PA licensureCPR Certification Preferred Qualifications Two years previous NP or PA experience in a primary care or urgent care setting Link to Employee Health Physical Demands Compensation Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as: the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
