Job Description

Hiring Department UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center, part of the Division of Student Affairs Job Description The UMKC Student Health and Wellness Center is looking for a Part Time Nurse Practitioner to join our team and continue our practice of providing quality health and mental health services to our diverse student population. This position will support students in the evaluation, diagnoses and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patient, including mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and other acute & chronic conditions, within the scope of Advanced Practice Nursing. Participate in quality assurance programs for health services. Present health and wellness programs as a part of outreach to the campus community, which includes student orientations. Participate in University meetings, projects, and committees as assigned. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff. Specifically, willingness and ability to function as an integral team member within the department (Counseling, Health, Testing, & Disability Services) and the Student Affairs Division. Ability to exercise independent judgement in medical practice and consult when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in nursing is required. Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master's program or its equivalent required. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri is required. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner is required. BLS Certification. Preferred Qualifications An interest in working with a college population. Well-developed oral and written communication skills. Strong commitment to professional ethics . Strong critical thinking skills Previous experience working in a higher education setting Familiarity with using an Electronic Medical Record System. Two or more years' experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse Experience working with a late teen and adult population.¿ Experience with IUD and Nexplanon insertion. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $56.00 per hour Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
