Job Description The Clinical Nurse Practitioner renders medical care to patients within the clinical setting of the hospital and clinical offices and is responsible for assessment of the patients in conjunction with the physician and provides care for each identified patient. Responsibilities Responsible for own practice within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries. Maintains current license. Maintains expertise in the area under established protocol. Serves as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviors. Shows commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skills. Regular and timely attendance is required for this position. Performance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizations Performs patient care services as delegated. Obtain comprehensive health histories of patients. Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial & mental examinations including developmental and functional status determination. Interpret x-rays with assistance from physician in order to formulae diagnosis. Interpret lab values with order to correct abnormalities. Evaluate differentiating normal from abnormal findings and suggest differential and presumptive diagnosis. Prioritize and initiate pertinent diagnostic test(s). Collect patient data prioritized according to the patient's immediate condition or needs. Identify expected patient outcomes in collaboration with patient, family, and other professionals Evaluate patients with lab and x-rays, and orders treatment based upon protocols, standards of care, and consultation with supervising physician when required. Systematically utilize the Nursing Process with lab and x-rays, and orders treatment based upon protocols, standards of care, and consultation with supervising physician when required. Collaborate with supervising physicians concerning patient care. Identify risk factors and provide health teaching and discharge planning for primary and secondary prevention. Provide discharge instructions with prescriptions given and follow-up visits. Contribute to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others upon request. Critically evaluate and modify existing practice based upon current research findings. Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care. Determine need for admission after consulting with supervising physician. Correctly perform advanced procedures as allowed by state nurse practice act under guidance from supervising physician. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Other techniques/procedures requested:
Foreign body removal (subcutaneous and eye) Wound management/suturing Incision and drainage Nail removal (finger and toes) Adult spinal tap Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider) Delegates and communicates patient care to appropriate team members based on skill, knowledge, and patient acuity. Assures daily accurate, concise reporting, and documentation of patients' condition and needs with appropriate follow-up. Facilitates patient education and discharge planning utilizing interdisciplinary resources.
Qualifications Education:
Master's Degree Nursing; Must have successfully completed at least 700 clinical practice hours

3 years As a staff
RN Licensure:
Current, active Nurse Practitioner license with the
