A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner provides mental health and nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. Diagnoses mental illness, develops treatment plans and prescribes medications. Teaches patient's family about the patient's condition. Works at hospitals with dedicated mental health unit, fully dedicated psychiatric hospital or in independent practice working from nursing homes and physicians' offices.
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is currently seeking a PACT Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for their outpatient clinic in Gulfport, MS . The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides both general and special outpatient nursing services adults with serious mental illnesses including assessments, medication dispensing and monitoring, medication skills training, giving injections, working with pharmacies. This position works with the person served, other professional medical providers, and clinicians to establish culturally competent service plans and treatment services. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works outside of a "4-wall" model to integrate a variety of disciplines and community services for the benefit of the patient. This position will require face to face, telehealth, and travel into the community to meet with the individual served. Requirements:
Must be a certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner in the state of Mississippi Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record preferred Personal transportation needed to provide services in assigned counties during the month Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
Responsibilities:
Provides follow-up medication evaluations and monitoring of adults with serious mental illness and child/adolescents with serious emotional disorders in both a clinic and community setting. Provides general psycho-therapeutic nursing and educational interventions to clientele. Monitors individuals receiving medications. Provides emergency services as needed.
