Family Nurse Practitioner Wellnest Primary Care Durham, NC Job Details Part-time $50 - $65 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Outpatient experience Evidence-based practice Patient family and caregiver education Advanced practice provider Working with families Emergency medicine Acute care experience General practice Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a confident, self-directed Family Nurse Pracitioner to provide primary care services to both pediatric and adult patients in a small, independent office setting. The population will be mostly pediatric but may also include across the life span and prenatal care. The provider will work alongside one Medical Assistan/FrontDeskt and must be comfortable managing the daily clinical workflow with a high degree of autonomy while practicing within all applicable supervisory and regulatory requirements. We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner who values a holistic, family-centered approach to care and is comfortable providing evidence-based counseling while respectfully supporting families who make individualized vaccine choices. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and capable of independently completing patient assessments, diagnosing and treating common acute and chronic conditions, prescribing medications, reviewing laboratory results, managing referrals, and maintaining accurate documentation. Our practice is vaccine-choice friendly. Providers must offer evidence-based education, answer questions respectfully, obtain informed consent, and support families in making healthcare decisions without judgment or coercion. Experience in pediatric care, adult primary care, preventive care, and routine office procedures is strongly preferred. Duties Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for patients of all ages, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and adult populations. Diagnose illnesses, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications in accordance with state and federal regulations, including DEA guidelines. Manage acute and chronic conditions such as pain, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal issues, behavioral health concerns, and post-acute care needs. Perform procedures including suturing, IV insertions, catheterizations, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, spinal taps, and sterile processing techniques. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across specialties—such as hospitalists in ICU or trauma centers—to coordinate complex patient care plans. Engage in telehealth consultations to extend access to care and provide health coaching for lifestyle modifications and disease management. Skills Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and individuals with disabilities or developmental delays. Strong proficiency in EMR/EHR systems; familiarity with medical documentation standards such as
ICD-10/ICD-9
coding and CPT coding. Skilled in performing clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile technique for suturing, and injection administration. Knowledge of advanced practice provider protocols within collaborative practice agreements; ability to prescribe medications responsibly under state law. Experience with emergency medicine or urgent care is highly valued. Excellent client communication skills; capable of triage assessments and delivering compassionate patient education across various healthcare environments such as outpatient clinics or home care settings.
