$85-$105/hour (based on experience) We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join a new outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment startup in Wilmington, North Carolina. Our program is being designed to provide high-quality, individualized addiction and mental health care with a focus on private insurance and self-pay clients. We will initially be providing IOP and PHP services then working to expand our license to MAT after we open. The practice will work closely with a sister sober living apartment community located just a few miles away, creating a supportive continuum of care for clients in recovery. Our initial marketing and outreach efforts will focus on serving: Veterans College students Impaired professionals This position will initially focus on comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients entering the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), with the role expanding to include Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services as the practice grows. Clinical Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for new patients entering PHP and other levels of outpatient care. Perform psychiatric history and mental status examinations. Complete history and physical (H&P) assessments as required for program admission. Develop individualized treatment recommendations in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team. Diagnose and treat co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders using evidence-based practices. Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management and follow-up appointments. Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient adherence. Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as clinically indicated. Coordinate care with therapists, counselors, case managers, medical providers, and outside referral sources. Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to individualized treatment planning. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the electronic medical record (Kipu EMR). Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Responsibilities (As Program Develops) Evaluate patients for appropriateness of Medication-Assisted Treatment. Initiate and manage MAT medications including buprenorphine-containing products (Suboxone® and Sublocade®) and extended-release naltrexone (Vivitrol®), consistent with federal and North Carolina regulations. Monitor patients receiving MAT for efficacy, adherence, side effects, withdrawal symptoms, and relapse risk. Educate patients and families regarding MAT options, expectations, risks, benefits, and recovery planning. Collaborate with counseling staff to integrate medication management with behavioral health treatment. Maintain all required documentation and prescribing standards related to controlled substances and MAT services. Compliance and Quality Maintain unrestricted licensure and prescriptive authority in the State of North Carolina. Practice in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, DEA requirements, HIPAA, and organizational policies. Maintain current DEA registration and required certifications for prescribing controlled substances. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical case reviews. Stay current on best practices in psychiatry, addiction medicine, and co-occurring disorders through continuing education. Additional Responsibilities Assist in developing clinical protocols and workflows as the practice expands. Build positive relationships with referral sources and community partners when appropriate. Support the organization's mission of providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals recovering from substance use disorders. Perform other clinical duties as assigned that are consistent with the scope of practice for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
