Job Description

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Neurosurgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join a nationally recognized Neurosciences team in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This role supports multiple neurosurgeons by providing comprehensive outpatient care, improving patient access, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional neurological and neurosurgical care. The APP will primarily practice in an outpatient setting, managing patient evaluations, follow-up care, treatment planning, and care coordination while working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Primary Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and evaluations in the outpatient neurosurgery clinic. Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians. Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and follow-up care. Facilitate patient access and continuity of care across the Neurosciences service line. Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and external providers. Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Participate in shared outpatient call coverage (phone-only) with the APP team. Support inpatient rounding and discharge activities on a rotating weekend schedule when needed. Maintain hospital privileges and comply with organizational and regulatory requirements. Schedule & Call Expectations Standard clinic hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Primarily daytime schedule. Shared outpatient call coverage (phone-only) among APP colleagues. Potential inpatient rounding responsibilities approximately 1 in every 13 weekends at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Patient Population & Practice Environment Outpatient-focused position. Average patient volume of 15-20 patients per day. Collaborative practice consisting of 13 physicians and 14 APPs. No procedural requirements associated with this position.
Qualifications Required:
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Eligible for licensure in North Carolina. Ability to obtain and maintain hospital privileges at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Strong clinical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
Experience in neurosurgery, neurology, surgery, or a related specialty. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience.
