The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for helping with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, consultations, and prescribing medications. The NP is also responsible for promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for clients who are detoxifying from substance dependency.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conducts patient History and Physical examinations. Assesses patients' medical urgency, determines care needs based upon presented symptoms and department standards of care. Collaborates care with Medical Director. Formulates patient specific goals directed plan of care which is prioritized and based on nursing assessment and patient outcomes in collaboration with Medical Director. Develops, individualizes, and professionally modifies care through physical, psychosocial and cognitive realms of nursing assessment. Prescribes medication to meet patient needs in collaboration with protocols and Medical Director. Ensures total patient care needs are met at all times. Evaluates the effectiveness of care given by self and others, revising the plan of care accordingly. Evaluates data in collaboration with counseling and clinical staff members to influence the revision of the total patient care service. Performs complete documentation responsibilities relating to patient's medical records in a timely, accurate and concise manner consistent with NJ state requirements. Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate personnel, and documenting events. Checks emergency and medical equipment as assigned and replaces and maintains emergency equipment as needed. Positively promotes the company to prospective clients and employees.
