Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Organization Description:

Position Overview:
Onsite Part-Time Adult and Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will join our outpatient mental health team providing psychiatric evaluations and medication management. This position assures the integration of the mission, values, and treatment philosophy of the agency.

$125-$150 per hour
Major Duties:
Key Responsibilities of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner include:
Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to diagnose mental health disorders in children, adolescents, and adults, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, and more. Before initiating treatment with psychotropic medication(s), a comprehensive drug history shall be obtained and documented.
Medication Management:
Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring client progress, side effects, and adjusting treatment as necessary. Provide medication counseling whenever a different medication is prescribed.
Collaboration:
Communicate with other physicians/providers who may be treating other diseases with the same client. Work closely with other mental health professionals, including therapists to provide comprehensive care to patients. Attend interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, as needed, to collaborate care.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in company's EMR system and in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. Prescribe medication in company's EMR system to ensure accurate medication information. Maintain documentation and compliance of medication management services and provide continuity of care.
Patient Education:
Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Provide clients with a written medication information fact sheet for each prescribed medication.
Ongoing Care:
Provide ongoing monitoring and follow-up care for clients to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and adjust care plans as needed. Carefully examine the use of psychotropic medication in children. Consider client's medication experiences and grant client's preferences whenever it is clinically appropriate and pharmacologically sound to do so. Ensure that the behavioral and pharmacologic approaches to treatment are evidence based or based on objective information to provide treatment services consistent with recognized treatment principles and practices for each client served by the program. Assure the integration of the mission, values, and treatment philosophy of the agency into daily operations. o Ensure agency compliance with all Federal, State, County, City regulations, program requirements, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a
PMHNP-BC
(Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Board Certified) from an approved credentialing body (ex: ANCC).
- Current CDS and DEA registration.
- Active New Jersey State Advanced Practice Nursing License.
- Written collaborative practice agreement with a physician who is licensed in New Jersey.
- Medical Liability Insurance (Malpractice) Certificate of Insurance and Endorsement.
- Understanding of the organization's mission and culture and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in using agency electronic health records. Commitment to maintain confidentiality. Awareness and sensitivity to the cultures represented by the organization. Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate well with people from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural groups. Ability to work flexible hours.
Pay:
$125.00 - $150.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 per week
