Our client is seeking a dedicated Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day assignment in New Mexico. This role involves working 8-10 hour shifts within a correctional setting, providing essential psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and addressing acute and chronic mental health conditions including substance use disorders and self-harm risk assessments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. Responsibilities and Duties Conduct psychiatric evaluations and follow-ups for a diverse patient population within a correctional facility. Perform medication management and prescribe psychotropic medications. Manage a wide range of behavioral health diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia/psychosis, and PTSD. Address substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Handle acute behavioral health concerns and provide crisis intervention. Perform suicide and self-harm risk assessments. Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, behavioral health specialists, and primary care teams. Support a population where a significant percentage has behavioral health diagnoses and a high volume of inmates may be undergoing detox daily.
