Salary range: $121,622.00 - $141,892.00 Albany Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our inpatient psychiatry team within the Department of Psychiatry. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative academic environment alongside psychiatrists, nursing staff, social workers, trainees, and interdisciplinary care teams caring for patients with acute psychiatric needs. The APP will provide care on an acute short-stay inpatient mental health unit with an average patient stay of less than one week. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the inpatient Medical Director while serving a diverse patient population in an OMH-regulated setting with a broad range of insurance coverage. In addition to inpatient responsibilities, the APP may also assist with consultation services in the emergency department and hospital setting. Other opportunities also include working with patients in our outpatient faculty practice. This is a Monday through Friday position with daytime hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Optional call opportunities may be available for additional compensation.
Responsibilities include:
Provide psychiatric evaluation and ongoing management for up to 8 patients daily on the inpatient psychiatric unit Collaborate closely with the inpatient Psychiatry Medical Director and interdisciplinary treatment team Participate in treatment planning, medication management, patient education, and discharge coordination Assist with psychiatric consultation services for the emergency department and inpatient hospital units Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the electronic medical record Maintain compliance with OMH regulations and institutional policies Contribute to a patient-centered, team-based approach to psychiatric care Requirements include: Current license and active registration as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program Prior psychiatry or behavioral health experience preferred Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced inpatient environment Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care We offer a highly competitive benefits package, including: Competitive base salary range of $121,622.00 - $141,892.00 based on years of licensure Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision) Generous paid time off and holiday schedule Albany Med retirement plan plus a 403(b) Annual CME allowance and dedicated CME time Occurrence-based malpractice coverage Employee wellness programs and mental health support Albany Medical Center is the centerpiece of medicine, research, and medical education in New York's Capital Region and is the area's largest private employer with more than 10,000 employees.
