Role:

The Nurse Practitioner in a Gastroenterology Office plays a critical role in delivering specialized healthcare services focused on the digestive system and related disorders. Minimum Qualifications:

Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the United States. Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a recognized certifying body (e.g., ANCC or AANP). Experience or clinical training in gastroenterology or related specialty. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous work experience in a gastroenterology clinical setting. Advanced certification in gastroenterology nursing or related specialty. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems commonly used in gastroenterology practices. Experience with patient education and counseling specific to gastrointestinal diseases. Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on gastrointestinal health. Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as endoscopies, lab work, and imaging studies. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with conditions like GERD, IBS, Crohn's disease, and liver disorders. Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes to support digestive health. Collaborate with gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity. Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in gastroenterology through continuing education.
