Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner Wound Care Specialist to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert wound management and advanced patient care, utilizing your extensive clinical knowledge and hands-on experience. Your proactive approach will enhance healing outcomes, improve patient quality of life, and support our mission to deliver exceptional, compassionate care across diverse healthcare settings. Duties Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including evaluating wound etiology, size, depth, exudate, and infection status using clinical evaluation techniques. Develop and implement individualized wound care plans that incorporate advanced treatments such as debridement, skin grafts, and specialized dressings. Administer complex procedures including suturing, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, and sterile techniques following aseptic protocols. Manage acute and chronic wounds across various settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and outpatient clinics. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care strategies. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and families on wound prevention strategies, proper dressing changes, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications to promote healing. Experience Proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner with specialized wound care expertise in settings such as hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), critical care units (ICU), emergency rooms, or outpatient clinics. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced procedures including suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques. Familiarity with diverse medical conditions including infectious disease care, diabetes management related to wound healing, geriatrics (memory care & dementia), pediatric care (including neonatal ventilator management), and hospice & palliative medicine. Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for comprehensive medical documentation and patient tracking. Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes alongside ICD-10 coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation. Background in clinical research or participation in quality improvement initiatives related to wound management or acute care practices is a plus. Strong understanding of healthcare laws including Workers' Compensation law and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliant practice standards.
