Overview Breathe Easy Counseling & Consulting is a growing Louisiana-based private practice seeking a fully licensed mental health clinician to join our team as a 1099 independent contractor. We are looking for a clinician who values the flexibility and autonomy of private practice while also wanting to feel connected to a supportive and collaborative team. Clinicians at Breathe Easy maintain independence in their clinical work and scheduling while having access to consultation, collaboration, administrative support, and established practice systems. This is a hybrid opportunity. Clinicians may provide services through secure telehealth to clients throughout Louisiana, in person from our Baton Rouge office, or through a combination of both based on their availability and preferences. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, clinically confident, comfortable managing their own caseload, and values having professional relationships with other clinicians rather than practicing completely in isolation. The position will begin with a small, manageable caseload of approximately five clients per week, with opportunities to grow based on clinician availability, referrals, and practice needs. Responsibilities Provide psychotherapy to clients through secure telehealth, in person at the Baton Rouge office, or both. Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy based on the clinician's training, competency, interests, and scope of practice. Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans. Utilize evidence-based and clinically appropriate interventions based on client needs and the clinician's training and therapeutic approach. Maintain timely and accurate progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and other required documentation in the practice EHR. Maintain consistent availability for an established caseload and independently manage scheduled client sessions. Assess and appropriately respond to safety concerns, including crisis situations and referrals to higher levels of care when clinically indicated. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and applicable ethical and licensing standards. Communicate and collaborate with the Breathe Easy team regarding client care, referrals, scheduling, and administrative needs when appropriate. Participate in clinical consultation and collaboration as needed while maintaining independent professional judgment. Qualifications Current, unrestricted Louisiana license to practice independently as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist, or other independently licensed behavioral health professional whose scope is appropriate for the services provided. Eligible to independently provide behavioral health services to clients in Louisiana. Experience providing psychotherapy to one or more of the populations served by the practice. Comfortable independently completing assessments, diagnosis when within scope, treatment planning, and clinical documentation. Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to independently manage a caseload and complete documentation in a timely manner. Current professional liability insurance or willingness to obtain required coverage before seeing clients. Individual NPI and active CAQH profile preferred. Previous private-practice or group-practice experience preferred but not required. Current credentialing with commercial insurance and/or Louisiana Medicaid plans is a plus. Telehealth experience preferred for clinicians choosing to provide virtual services. Schedule & Caseload This is a flexible 1099 contract position. Clinicians determine the availability they offer to the practice, with an expectation of maintaining a minimum caseload of approximately five client sessions per week once established. Clinicians may choose virtual, in-office, or hybrid availability. Evening and/or after-school availability is a plus. There is opportunity to gradually increase caseload based on clinician availability, referral volume, payer credentialing, and practice needs. Compensation This is a 1099 independent contractor position compensated at 60% of collected session revenue. Compensation varies based on service type, payer reimbursement, and completed sessions. This is not a salaried or hourly employee position. Caseload and income are not guaranteed and may vary based on referrals, availability, payer participation, and client attendance.
