Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations, intake evaluations, and diagnostic evaluations using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks. Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with DEA regulations, including psychopharmacology treatments tailored to individual needs. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across disciplines—psychiatrists, primary care providers, social workers—to develop and implement integrated treatment plans. Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to enhance treatment adherence. Utilize telehealth platforms to deliver remote psychiatric consultations, ensuring access for patients in various settings such as clinics or home care environments. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records while maintaining HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards. Participate in case management activities, discharge planning, and follow-up care to support ongoing recovery efforts. Skills Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in hospice & palliative medicine. Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health interventions. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; experience with telehealth tools is highly desirable. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, mental status exams, and physical examinations when necessary. Skilled in patient communication, providing clear explanations of diagnoses and treatment options while fostering a compassionate environment. Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations including HIPAA and DEA regulations related to medication prescribing. Experience working within collaborative practice agreements as an advanced practice provider in diverse settings such as hospitals (Level I/II trauma centers), nursing homes, outpatient clinics or urgent care facilities.
