Varied Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality medical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Primary duties are related to providing appropriate medication and supportive management to alcohol and/or opioid substance use disordered clients. Additional services provided will include but are not limited to: Basic medical care for all TFC clients, medication management for other behavioral health issues (in consult with collaborating physician), and limited employee health services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy at all times Obtains and documents accurate patient(s) health history including medical, social, and psychological needs according to agency standards Follows established agency medication protocols for treatment substance use disordered clients Diagnoses and manages preventive and acute, healthcare conditions, as indicated and specific to substance abuse, behavioral health, and associated physiologic health based upon individualized client need. Provides appropriate patient education Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention Performs procedures as indicated specific to treatment of substance use disorders/behavioral health Orders, interprets and signs laboratory and diagnostic test and procedure orders as indicated by MAT protocols; communicates results to collaborative physician as needed and to patient(s) in a timely manner Discusses assessments, prognosis, and treatment options with patient(s) to develop acceptable, affordable, individualized and culturally sensitive plan of care. Consults with and refers to other healthcare clinicians when indicated; facilitates continuity of care with controlled prescribing; utilizes SC PMP, conducts follow-up contact with other prescribers as indicated. Committee participation and meeting attendance as indicated Completes prior authorizations for specialty medications Prescribes medications, treatment modalities, and durable medical equipment as indicated by diagnosis May participate in both professional and community healthcare forums and presentations, conducts research, and applies findings to clinical practice as appropriate or indicated Collaborates with Collaborative Physician/Director of Medical Services as needed and completes quarterly chart reviews Other duties as assigned

Marginal Duties:

This position is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team providing primarily medication assisted treatment. This position requires a positive attitude and plays a leadership role within the department and agency as a whole.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None Qualifications/ Competencies:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Masters or Doctorate degree
• Current License as an APRN by the South Carolina Board of Nursing (renewal every two years)
• Current Certification by a national credentialing board
• Current License by Federal DEA (renewal every 3 years) and SC Controlled Substance (annual renewal)
• Current Cardiorespiratory Resuscitation (CPR) credential (AHA BLS or equivalency)
• Must complete continuing education and professional development beyond formal education as outlined by certifying body

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
