Duties Perform comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status and identify medical conditions. Prescribe medications and treatment regimens in accordance with state and federal regulations, including DEA guidelines. Manage acute and chronic illnesses across various specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and behavioral health. Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately. Collaborate with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, specialists, and case managers to coordinate patient care plans. Provide patient education on disease management, medication administration, lifestyle modifications, and preventive health strategies. Assist in procedures such as suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, spinal taps, dermal fillers, Botox treatments (Botulinum toxin), and esthetic laser treatments. Participate in clinical research initiatives and contribute to quality improvement projects within the practice setting. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical records for legal and billing purposes. Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to care and support patients remotely when appropriate. Skills Extensive experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and order entry. Proficiency in performing advanced procedures including suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques. Strong knowledge of pharmacology for medication prescribing across multiple specialties including pain management and psychopharmacology. Critical care experience from ICU or Level I/II trauma center settings; familiarity with ventilator management and airway procedures. Skilled in managing complex cases involving infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, occupational health issues, and post-acute care planning. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using sonography or medical imaging modalities; experience with laboratory specimen collection/processing is a plus. Excellent client communication skills tailored for diverse populations including pediatrics (children & infants), seniors (geriatrics & memory care), individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities. Knowledge of CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology) and ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases) for accurate billing practices. Experience working within hospital environments such as emergency rooms or inpatient units; familiarity with trauma protocols is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams under collaborative practice agreements.
