Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Neurology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic healthcare team on a part-time or full-time basis. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive assessments, treatments, and ongoing management for patients with diverse neurological needs. This position emphasizes the importance of utilizing advanced EMR systems, engaging in clinical research, and applying critical care practices to optimize patient outcomes. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, neurological examinations, and physical evaluations to determine diagnosis and treatment plans. Manage acute neurological conditions such as stroke, seizures, migraines, and traumatic brain injuries with precision and confidence. Administer injections including Botulinum toxin treatments for spasticity or dystonia under proper protocols. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across departments to coordinate care plans, including triage of urgent cases and management of complex cases in hospital settings. Utilize our EMR/EHR system ECW for accurate documentation of patient records, data collection, and medical records management. Perform diagnostic evaluations including interpretation of neuroimaging results, diagnostic tests like EEGs, and laboratory data. Assist in clinical research initiatives related to neurology by collecting data, managing clinical trials, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education on medication administration, CPT coding procedures for billing purposes, and patient care instructions. Qualifications Valid license as an NP or PA with experience in neurology or related fields such as critical care, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine. Demonstrated expertise in advanced practice provider roles within hospital or outpatient settings; experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques specific to neurology. Experience administering injections such as Botulinum toxin treatments; competence in physical examinations and aseptic techniques. Background in acute care environments including ICU or emergency room experience; familiarity with ventilator management and critical care procedures preferred. Ability to perform triage effectively and manage acute pain cases; experience with ventilator use and ICU protocols is advantageous. Excellent client communication skills along with the ability to collaborate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams. Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis processes including ICD coding and drug enforcement regulations (DEA). Additional skills in clinical trials management, research activities, health coaching, discharge planning, and post-acute care are a plus.
