Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive inpatient care across various hospital settings, including medical-surgical units, critical care, emergency departments, and specialty services. Your expertise will ensure high-quality patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and ongoing management. Candidates must demonstrate a passion for acute and chronic care management, possess strong clinical judgment, and thrive in a collaborative practice setting. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine appropriate care strategies. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members. Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice while adhering to HIPAA regulations and DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) guidelines. Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, critical & intensive care scenarios, and geriatrics. Perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertion and infusion, catheterization, spinal taps, and sterile processing techniques as needed. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records management, and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT). Participate in discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and follow-up care coordination to optimize patient outcomes. Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across departments including ICU teams, emergency medicine staff, behavioral health specialists, and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient care delivery. Engage in telehealth consultations when applicable to extend access to specialized services such as esthetic laser treatments or occupational health assessments. Skills Extensive experience working with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/athenahealth/eClinicalWorks) for documentation and order entry. Proficiency in performing advanced procedures including sonography, venipuncture, tube feeding management, airway management, and sterile techniques. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology (including psychopharmacology), and diagnostic evaluation methods. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse patient populations including pediatrics (including toddler and neonatal care), geriatrics (memory/dementia/Alzheimer's care), hospice & palliative medicine patients. Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers with skills in ventilator management and cardiac catheterization support. Skilled in triage protocols for urgent care settings or emergency room scenarios; experience with infectious disease protocols essential. Familiarity with medical coding systems (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) for accurate billing; knowledge of Workers' Compensation law is a plus. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as hospital medicine units or post-acute care settings while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on health coaching and patient education to promote wellness and adherence to treatment plans. $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
