Part-Time Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Good City Health - Spring/The Woodlands, Texas Good City Health is a nonprofit, Christ-centered free clinic providing compassionate medical care to uninsured and underinsured members of our community. We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our clinical team on a limited part-time basis. This is an ideal position for an experienced clinician who wants to continue practicing medicine, maintain clinical skills, and serve the community without the commitment of a traditional full-time or part-time schedule. Schedule Good City Health is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 9:45 AM-2:15 PM . The position requires approximately 6 shifts per month , generally scheduled as 1-2 shifts per week during our open clinic hours. Scheduling is coordinated with our current provider and can be arranged in advance, allowing significant flexibility from month to month. Anticipated start date is between November 2026 and January 2027, depending on completion of credentialing. Position Responsibilities The NP/PA will independently evaluate and treat patients presenting to our free clinic with a broad range of minor acute care needs.
Responsibilities include:
Evaluating and treating common acute illnesses and minor injuries Ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic studies Prescribing medications within scope of practice Providing patient education and follow-up recommendations Identifying patients who require a higher level of care or specialty evaluation Performing common office and urgent-care procedures Documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record Collaborating closely with the Medical Director, other providers, nurses, staff, and clinic volunteers Practicing within Good City Health clinical policies and established standards of care Providing compassionate, respectful care consistent with the mission and values of Good City Health Procedural Skills Applicants must be comfortable independently performing common outpatient and urgent-care procedures, including: Laceration repair and suturing Suture and staple removal Incision and drainage of abscesses Splinting of common musculoskeletal injuries Cerumen removal Partial or complete nail removal when clinically indicated Additional procedural experience is welcomed.
Qualifications Applicants must have:
Current, unrestricted Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Current prescribing authority/credentials as applicable Current BLS certification Prior clinical experience with the procedures listed above Strong independent clinical assessment and decision-making skills Ability to recognize when a patient can safely be managed in the clinic versus when a higher level of care is necessary Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A collaborative, team-oriented attitude Flexibility and willingness to work alongside staff and volunteers in a small clinical setting A genuine desire to provide compassionate healthcare to members of the community who may have limited access to medical care Clinical experience in family medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, or a similar setting is required. We are not hiring new graduates at this time. Because providers frequently evaluate patients independently, this position is best suited for an experienced clinician who is comfortable assessing undifferentiated complaints, performing common procedures, and making appropriate disposition and follow-up decisions. Spanish-speaking ability is a bonus but is not required. Translation services are available for patients when needed.
