Job Description

MedStar Health seeks an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced clinical care to employees across our Maryland-Washington, D.C. region. In this role, you will perform work-related health assessments, injury and illness evaluation, and follow-up care, including diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, and safe return-to-work decisions. You will collaborate with physicians, safety, HR, and leadership to prevent workplace injuries, manage exposures, support wellness programs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Provide occupational health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for employees Conduct pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations Manage work-related injuries, illnesses, and exposure incidents Interpret diagnostics, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans per scope Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, and case management to support safe return to work Collaborate with physicians, HR, safety, and leadership on employee health initiatives Support workplace wellness, vaccination, and screening programs Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with OSHA and other regulations Educate employees and leaders on injury prevention and safe work practices Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based occupational health protocols Required Skills Occupational health assessment Advanced physical examination Diagnosis and clinical decision-making Workers' compensation and OSHA knowledge Injury and exposure management Return-to-work and fitness-for-duty evaluation Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Vaccination and screening protocols Employee health education Interprofessional collaboration
