We serve the Fredericksburg and Stafford communities—located just outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area—and continue to expand access to high-quality orthopedic care. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Orthopedic Urgent Care / Same-Day Access Clinic . This role is designed to improve patient access, provide timely treatment for acute musculoskeletal injuries, and support continuity of care for established orthopedic patients. This is a clinic-based, non-surgical role with strong physician collaboration and support.

Monday-Friday:

8:00 AM - 8:00

PM Saturday-Sunday:

8:00 AM - 4:00

PM Flexibility:

Clinic hours may evolve based on community needs

Call Support:

On-call orthopedic physician available for consultation at all times

Expectation:

Participation in a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed Key Responsibilities Independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions Perform focused histories and physical exams for orthopedic injuries and conditions Order and interpret diagnostic studies (X-rays) Perform in-clinic procedures such as splinting, casting, bracing, and joint injections (based on training and scope) Provide same-day care for walk-in orthopedic injuries and urgent conditions Educate patients on injury care, treatment options, and recovery expectations Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and care teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care Assist with triaging patient calls, clinical questions, and care coordination Document accurately and efficiently in the EMR (e.g., Epic) to support workflow and quality standards Partner with physicians, APPs, therapy teams, and staff to enhance patient access and clinic throughput Qualifications For Nurse Practitioners (NP): Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Current or eligible Virginia NP license Prescriptive authority and DEA (or ability to obtain) For Physician Assistants (PA): Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program NCCPA certification (current or eligible) Current or eligible Virginia PA license DEA license (or ability to obtain)

Preferred Experience:

Prior experience in orthopedics, urgent care, emergency medicine, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care Strong procedural skills (splinting, casting, injections) preferred Ability to work independently with appropriate physician collaboration Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered, team-oriented mindset Why Join FOA?
