Position Summary The Pediatric Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers timely, compassionate care to children with acute medical needs in a walk-in or extended-hours clinical setting. Working collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams, the APP performs assessments, procedures, and treatment planning for a wide range of pediatric conditions-ensuring access to quality care beyond traditional primary care hours. Responsibilities Independently evaluate and treat pediatric patients presenting with non-emergent illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and other urgent concerns Perform clinical procedures appropriate to training and scope, such as wound care, splinting, abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and rapid testing Order and interpret diagnostics, including point-of-care labs and radiology, to guide clinical decisions Prescribe medications, treatments, and referrals per Washington State guidelines for independent APPs Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, follow-up care, and warning signs Document clinical encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) Lead care coordination, including appropriate disposition planning and referrals to primary care or specialists Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, imaging staff, and front-desk personnel to support patient flow and care quality-without requiring supervisory oversight Engage in peer collaboration, clinical meetings, and case discussions that enhance practice quality, safety, and teamwork. Support institutional performance goals, including efforts related to population health, equity, quality measures, and safety protocols. Participate in clinical meetings and improvement initiatives, contributing to efforts that enhance patient outcomes and experience. Maintains license and appropriate continuing education. Adheres to MHS Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards, and maintains reliable attendance Requirements Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Current Washington State licensure as an ARNP (NP) with full prescriptive authority National certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Clinical experience in pediatric urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine preferred BLS certification Excellent autonomy, decision-making, and patient-centered communication skills Why MultiCare?
