  • Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Hospitalist Medicine Inpatient service by providing initial and ongoing assessment and management of urgent care issues related to internal medicine or critical care needs located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert Hospital .
This role will be responsible for the admission of patients to the medical teams and to provide on call coverage for patients admitted to the hospitalist service (cross coverage). The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Ideal Candidate has a desire to be part of a thriving and very collaborative academic practice at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to providing direct patient care to a broad range of patients and illness in an inpatient/hospital setting.
In this role you will:
Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring medical intervention in inpatient environment as a member of the Hospital Service. Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information. Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Hospitalist services. Facilitates and communicates with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission. Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard. Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitor effectiveness of plan of care Educate patients on disease and treatment plans. Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission. Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. Preferred Schedule:
Full Time 1.0 FTE; Rotating monthly schedule of 8-10.5 hours shifts with average 36 hour work week. Shifts vary from 4pm-12am, 3pm-1am OR 5pm-1am, 4pm-2am, weekends 12pm-10:30 pm, and 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year. On average, work every 3rd weekend.

Census/Average Patients:
Typically, 8-10 encounters per day, shift and experience dependent. 40 hours of CME per academic year; prorated based on start Bonus opportunities for nocturnist APPs!
