Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reviewing favorable and partially favorable determinations in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Render determinations for cases assigned.
- Resolve all other technical issues within reconsideration assigned.
- Review cases or sites assigned to determine and summarize facts and assess any issues identified.
- Perform other special projects not related to a specific case such as general legal research, general medical research, drafting proposal sections, or acting as a liaison for a specific project, when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services, including general screening, medical care, examinations for routine, acute, and chronic conditions, immunizations, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling.
- Diagnose and treat clients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through formal and individual education and counseling.
- Communicate mental health concepts in a manner that resonates with elite operators who may be skeptical of traditional psychological support.
- Communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support healthcare team plans, client and family education, and organizational health initiatives.
- Provide command consultation regarding de-identified morale and behavioral health trends to help inform operational tempo decisions.
- Provide technical direction and evidence-based instruction to staff, including educational lectures and participation in in-service training.
- Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all client encounters.
- Attend staff meetings to support case discussion, continuing education, continuous quality improvement, and safety initiatives. Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 3
- 5 years of experience, OR Associate's degree with 5-7 years of experience.
- Master's degree in nursing from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-graduate experience in the independent practice of clinical psychiatric nursing.
- Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience in the Department of War (DoW) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) setting.
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Board certification as a PMHNP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or another recognized national nursing certification organization for the applicable specialty area of practice.
- Understanding of military culture and operational stressors within the SOF operator community.
- Proficiency in treating post-traumatic stress (PTS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and chronic pain. Home Office Requirements
