POSITION TITLE
Bus Aide/Nurse
JOB GOAL
To assist bus driver in safely transporting exceptional or handicapped students or students in an efficient and timely manner, and providing required health services while transporting.
REPORTS TO
Transportation Supervisor
SUPERVISES

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with safe loading and unloading of students. Enforce safety rules for students. Monitor student behavior. Escort/assist students (door to door) to and from school bus if needed. Administer to the individual needs of the students as required. Assist driver in keeping bus clean and supplied with needs for transporting students. Be familiar, if assigned to special education students, each student's physical and emotional needs. Ensure that each student is secured (seatbelts, harnesses, and wheelchairs) as needed. Ensure all extra equipment is secured to avoid movement. Assist driver with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary. Interact with students and parents to learn the special needs of riders. Follow all policies and laws governing transportation of special needs children. Maintain confidentiality regarding school and work place matters. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Perform all tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. Demonstrates success in appropriately detecting and assessing student health problems. Identifies and appropriately responds to students who require special health services at school. Complies with the Nurse Practice Act and Enterprise City Schools' Nurse Policy Manual. Complies with the Enterprise City Schools System's reporting and recording procedures for documentation of student health information. Honors code of confidentiality with students and families. Provides emergency first aid in compliance with the Enterprise City School system's procedures.
