Benson Hospital has a full time, night shift, opening for a Certified Nursing Assistant.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for administering safe and effective care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to patients at Benson Hospital. Associates must be able to demonstrate knowledge for age specific factors necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served on the unit. 1. Demonstrates knowledge for age specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective performance of duties. 2. Measures and records vital signs. Assesses food/fluid intake, and records in the electronic health record. Documents patients weights on admission and daily. 3. Assures that personal hygiene needs of patients are met by administering complete/partial patient baths, showers, oral care, perineal care, indwelling urinary catheter care, hair/nail care, shaving, and bed making. 4. Assists in the toileting needs of the patients, and records outputs accurately. 5. Empties drainage collection devices and completes documentation of bowel movement, toileting scheduling, and nourishments in the electronic health record. 6. Answers call lights promptly; responds promptly to patient inquiries; reports any abnormal findings or complaints to primary nurse. 7. Provides a safe, clean, comfortable environment for the patient as evidenced by observation. 8. Identifies and reports potential and active environmental safety hazards. 9. Knowledgeable in the use of specialized equipment, treatment procedures, policies, practices, and standards of clinical area. 10. Demonstrates ability to lift, transfer and transport patients in wheelchair, bed or stretcher utilizing appropriate transfer device. 11. Assists in the admission and discharge/transfer of patient as directed by RN and according to procedure. Initiates treatments as directed. Collects information as needed. Cares for patients' valuables according to procedure with assistance of RN. Assists patients in preparing for discharge: dressing, packing, accompanying discharged patient to vehicle. Reports significant unusual findings to RN. 12. Maintains harmonious relationship with other departments and co-workers, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality patient care. 13. Works in various clinical departments, where qualified and competent, depending on the needs of the hospital. 14. Works every other weekend as dictated by patient acuity/census and staffing needs. 15. Maintains patient confidentiality and does not discuss patient in public areas such as cafeteria, hallways, parking lots or loudly so others can hear. 16. Meets customers' expectations by listening to and demonstrating sensitivity and awareness of others. 17. Ensures that established expectations are satisfied. Keep customers informed of progress. 18. Adheres to the policies and procedures and corporate compliance policy of Benson Hospital. 19. Performs related duties as required within the scope of the Nursing Department and within approved licensure, certifications and/or completed and verified competent in the specific training 20. Strives to gain additional knowledge and skills. 21. Displays flexibility in scheduling to meet staffing needs of the hospital. 22. Attends 75% of yearly staff meetings; remains accountable for content of missed staff meetings. Attends all mandatory in-services, as required. 23. Completes daily CNA sign-off sheet per shift and turns it in to Director of Nursing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1.
High School diploma or GED equivalent - Minimum education requirement. 2. Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in the State of Arizona 3. Maintain current BLS/CPR as per Benson Hospital policy. 4. 1-2 years' experience as a CNA - Preferred experience. 5. Maintain current certification in non-violence crisis intervention (CPI).
