Job Overview :

The Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant provides administrative, clinical, and patient-care support under the direction of a licensed provider and in accordance with CVAM protocols. The position may be assigned to a specific provider or serve in a floor, float, or buddy capacity to support continuity of care and efficient clinic operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

: 1. Welcome patients and caregivers, answer questions, and route inquiries appropriately. 2. Manage a high volume of assigned patient communications, including telephone calls, portal messages, text messages, and EMR tasks. 3. Review, document, prioritize, respond to, route, and escalate patient communications in accordance with CVAM protocols and provider direction. 4. Return patient calls, portal messages, and other assigned communications the same business day whenever possible and no later than 24 hours after receipt, unless a shorter response time is required based on clinical urgency or CVAM protocol. 5. Escort patients to the exam room, verify patient identity and reason for visit, and prepare patients for examinations, ECGs, and other approved procedures. 6. Obtain and document vital signs, symptoms, medical history, allergies, medications, fall-risk information, and other pertinent clinical information. 7. Complete medication reconciliation and identify discrepancies or patient-reported concerns for provider review. 8. Perform ECGs, six-minute walk tests, and other approved clinical procedures within established training and competency requirements. 9. Identify urgent or clinically significant concerns using established CVAM protocols and promptly escalate them to the appropriate licensed provider. 10. Recognize potentially life-threatening symptoms and direct patients to call 911 or seek emergency care in accordance with CVAM protocols. 11. Initiate review and response to symptomatic requests within established timeframes and assist with same-day appointments, provider review, or follow-up as directed. 12. Promptly notify the appropriate provider of abnormal vital signs, ECG findings, test results, reported symptoms, or changes in patient condition. 13. Assist providers during examinations, procedures, office visits, and the evaluation of symptomatic or walk-in patients. 14. Complete assigned chart preparation and obtain required medical records, laboratory results, diagnostic reports, and other clinical information before the patient's visit or provider review. 15. Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation, enter appropriate test orders when procedures are performed, and route clinical tasks to the appropriate provider or department. 16. Manage assigned provider and MA desktops, work queues, alerts, messages, and urgent tasks through completion. 17. Process prescription refill requests, medication prior authorizations, and related medicationmanagement tasks in accordance with CVAM policies and provider-approved protocols. 18. Communicate approved prescription information, results, provider instructions, and follow-up recommendations accurately to patients, caregivers, and pharmacies. 19. Serve as the primary MA/CNA for an assigned provider or provide floor, float, or buddy support based on operational needs, including coverage for rooming, desktops, patient communications, lunches, absences, and workflow demands. 20. Clean, disinfect, stock, and maintain exam rooms, clinical equipment, supplies, and sample medication areas. 21. Open and close the back office and assist with oxygen setup, Code Apple responsibilities, and other emergency-response procedures as directed. 22. Maintain patient confidentiality, communicate professionally, follow all applicable laws, safety standards, and CVAM policies, and perform other duties as assigned.
