Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility to promote comfort and independence. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems). Support patient transfer methods using equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices at all times. Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff, including symptoms related to infectious diseases or acute care needs. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation and records with precision. Assist with specialized care procedures such as catheter care, medication administration under supervision, and basic life support (BLS) when necessary. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in settings like long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home care environments to ensure seamless patient service. Skills Proven experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease, pediatrics, or those requiring hospice or memory care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, aseptic techniques, and infection control protocols. Ability to perform essential caregiving tasks such as vital signs measurement, medication administration support, and patient transfer methods safely and efficiently. Strong communication skills for caregiving interactions and team collaboration within fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers. Experience working with specialized equipment including Hoyer lifts and understanding of safe lifting practices. Basic life support (BLS) certification and proficiency in CPR are required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or DME are a plus.
