Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant assists Patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the RN and/or RN in charge of the team and/or unit. The CNA assists in the implementation and coordination of care as directed by the RN and/or Charge RN and nursing diagnoses by providing delegated aspects of care. The primary patients served on the ICU unit are adult and geriatric patients. Certified Nursing Assistants must be knowledgeable of the special needs of adult, senior, and geriatric patients for mobility assistance and skin care. They must possess the patience and understanding needed to deal with the frail elderly who need maximum assistance. Occasionally, pediatric patients over 30 months are admitted. Certified Nursing Assistants must be cognizant of safety issues and psychological issues connected with hospitalized children.
REQUIREMENTS
High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age. CA Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. BLS certification. Have had no convictions for, nor have pleaded nolo contendere (no contest) to resident/patient abuse, neglect, or mistreatment. Basic Computer Skills.
