Lead Wound Care Nurse / Medical AssistantPosition Summary The Lead Wound Care Nurse/MA is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based wound care to patients while providing clinical leadership and day-to-day guidance to the wound care team. This role combines direct patient care (assessment, dressing changes, debridement assistance, patient education) with team coordination responsibilities, including scheduling, training new staff, maintaining supply inventory, and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards. This role provides both in-office and home-based patient care , delivering high-quality vascular and wound management services directly to patients in the community. The position is based across our Beverly Hills and Orange County offices, with local travel required. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including measurement, staging, photography, and documentation in the EMR Provide direct wound care: dressing changes, wound cleansing, application of topical treatments, compression therapy, and assistance with sharp/enzymatic debridement per protocol Assist physicians/APPs during procedures (e.g., debridement, biopsies, graft applications) Monitor healing progress and escalate concerns (infection, non-healing wounds, complications) to the provider promptly Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, offloading, nutrition, and home care instructions Help maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and payer requirements Maintain a strong relationship with referring providers and home health agencies, including answering clinical questions, submission of wound care orders promptly after each visit, and coordinating days of care Team Leadership Onboard and train new staff and MAs on wound care protocols, documentation standards, and clinic workflows Coordinate daily patient flow and staff assignments to ensure efficient clinic operations Monitor adherence to clinical protocols, infection control standards, and safety guidelines; provide coaching as needed Daily staff scheduling with consistent communication to Home Health and referring physicians Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives (e.g., healing rate tracking, readmission reduction, patient satisfaction) Operations & Compliance Maintain wound care supply inventory; order and stock supplies as needed Ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning Assist with audits, chart reviews, and incident reporting as needed

Qualifications Required:

Minimum 2-3 years of clinical experience, with at least 1 year in wound care Strong knowledge of wound assessment, dressing selection, and standard and advanced wound care protocols Excellent documentation skills and comfort working within an EMR Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred:

Active LPN, RN, or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) license/certification in CA Wound Care Certification (e.g., WCC, CWCA, CWON, or equivalent) Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant language) Physical Requirements Ability to stand/walk for extended periods Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs and assist with patient positioning Manual dexterity for wound care procedures Comfort working around wounds, odors, and bodily fluids

Pay:

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
