Full Job Description SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, provide basic resident care. This is accomplished in accord with the Vincentian Mission and Values of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church, Federal and State Laws and within the
Quality of Care and Service, Safety and Disaster Plans of Laboure Residence Qualifications:
Must understand and support the mission of the Daughters of Charity and Vincentian Values as stated in the Seton Employee Handbook Must possess personal qualities of integrity, respect for others, good judgment, and good communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent Completion of state approved training program for Certified Nursing Assistants including on the job training Certified Nursing Assistant who is certified must be in good standing in the State of California
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Complete and maintain an annual basic first aid certification Complete 48 hours of in-service training every two years Maintain a neat, clean and professional appearance; conform to dress code Deal tactfully and professionally with residents, visitors, families, the general public, and other staff members Speak, read, and write English Be economical with use of supplies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist professional nursing staff by performing duties of caring for the Sisters at Laboure Residence Make beds and feed Sisters, serve drinks and nourishment, care for incontinent Sisters Assist in planning and executing patient assessments Provide for safety, comfort, and the wellbeing of the Sisters Routinely turn and position Sisters Keep assigned Sisters' bedside area clean and personal belongings in orderly arrangement. Ambulate and transfer Sisters utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body Mechanics Receive and follow instructions from charge nurse of Director of Nursing and assist those with independent activities of daily living including dressing, bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene Assist in assessing Sisters conditions and communicating changes to the charge nurse Assist in serving at mealtime and escorting Sisters to activities and to chapel Ensure Sister's privacy, respect, and dignity. Observe Sister's rights; maintain confidentiality of facility and Sister's care information Execute duties and responsibilities in conformity with established routines, policies and procedures Ensure physical safety, comfort and well-being of Sisters. Observe and report symptoms, reactions and changes of Sisters Detect and correct situations that have a likelihood of causing accidents or injuries to residents or staff. Report unsafe conditions and safety suggestions in writing to supervisor Attend and participate in facility in-service educational programs Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Seton Provincialate Make sure that assignment areas are neat, clean, and free from hazards and that all supplies are properly stored and replenished before leaving on breaks or at the end of shift Answer all Sisters' calls promptly. Ensure that the call light system or bell is within Sister's reach Report all accidents and unusual occurrences to supervisor immediately Be aware of and practice proper infection control techniques Work is performed primarily in a convalescent/retirement facility Perform other closely related duties as assigned Other Nursing related duties as assigned

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work is in a health care environment Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability May be required to lift up to 40 lbs. in patient handling tasks Able to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the day Subject to frequent interruptions
