Essential
UNIT SECRETARY DUTIES
Collaborates and communicates with the nursing staff to maintain accurate records during the patient's hospitalization. Accurately enters patient data into computer on all admissions, discharges, and transfers. Enters all computer orders within two hours and processes STAT orders immediately. Keeps Head Nurse/Lead Nurse informed of admits discharges, and transfers by frequent communication. Prepares and maintains patient's charts. Reviews charts at the end of every shift to ensure adequate supply of forms are filed in the chart and that the chart is maintained in proper order. Ensures that after discharge the patient's chart is completely assembled for Medical Records. Prepares chart in proper order for patients transferred to another unit. Transcribes orders as directed by unit procedures, accurately and legibly on the rand card. Files all Lab results appropriately on chart. Copies all materials as directed and distributes to appropriate persons. May be assigned other clerical duties to assist manager. Is an active participant in achieving quality patient care. Refers complaints and problems to the Nurse Manager/Lead Nurse immediately. Assists nursing staff in achieving quality patient care by transporting specimens, observation, and retrieving items needed for patient care. Is certified to pick up blood from the Lab. Maintains confidentiality with all patient care issues. Answers patient or family questions or refers them to the appropriate personnel. Answers phones with 4 (four) rings. Adjusts, corrects, or otherwise edits Kronos hours for departmental staff per otis slips. Monitors and verifies state required staffing hours; keeps daily staffing records accurate and up to date.
CNA DUTIES
Assists the Nursing staff in performing tasks as delegated by the Registered Nurse. Maintains a clean, safe, and neat patient environment. Handles the personal property of the patient with great care. Provides assistance with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Orients patients to room (call light, storage of belongings, etc.) Identifies self by name and job category. Assists patients with meals, snacks, and with water pitchers. Assists with activities of daily living: bath, ambulation oral care, etc. Provides for the toilet needs of patients by emptying bedpans and drainage container. Reports any variation in amount, color, consistency, and odor of output to the RN. Collects and records intake and output, weight, height, and vital signs as delegated by the Registered Nurse. Collects respiratory rate by direct observation of the patient. Collects, labels, and delivers specimens. Provides post-mortem cares and assists in transporting the body to the morgue. Assists with emergency care by participating in crash cart checks, providing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and responding to Code Blue. Assists with total body cleanliness such as giving baths, helping with showers, and providing oral care. Reports any variance in the patient's condition, to licensed staff Reports specific patient or family needs, concerns, and changes in activity to licensed staff. Maintains confidentiality with all patient care issues. Answers patient call lights within two minutes as assigned. Complies with current policies and procedures including safety and infection control. Must keep all required certifications current. Performs tasks safely. Restorative Nurse Assistant:
Assists residents to achieve their highest level of physical functioning in ADL activities such as mobility training, range of motion and splinting skills. Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Performs other duties as assigned.
