This contract opportunity is perfect for a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) looking for weekday, part-time hours during the school year. You'll ride in the van with a student who has Type 1 diabetes, ensuring their health and safety as they travel to and from school. Your expertise and care will help give both the student and their family peace of mind.
Key Qualifications:
Active CNA certification and current registration Experience working with children, particularly those with special health considerations Knowledge of managing and monitoring Type 1 diabetes Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor Reliability and punctuality for consistent daily scheduling Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to healthcare privacy laws
What Youll Do:
Accompany a student on their bus or van commute (approx. 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday) Monitor the students health status, including recognizing signs of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia Administer quick, appropriate interventions if blood glucose issues arise Communicate clearly with school staff and family as needed regarding the students wellbeing Maintain necessary records in accordance with school and healthcare guidelines Remain attentive and supportive throughout each route This role offers a unique balance of direct patient care and regular, predictable hours, allowing you to make a real difference while still accommodating other commitments in your day.
