Job Description

Resident Services Assistant Supervises:
None Reports to:
Resident Services Director Position Summary:
Implement the activities designed for residents. Provide feedback to Resident Services Director from residents for additional programming. Make suggestions that reflect the varied interests of the residents and provides them with meaningful and enriching activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Implement the comprehensive activities program to help meet the spiritual, physical, social, and psychosocial needs of the residents. 2. Assist the Resident Services Director in creating and planning activities. 3. Present programs in front of a large group or small group of participants. 4. Assist with implementing special events, including holiday events, weekend events, and evening events. 5. Encourage residents to attend activities, try new things, socialize and meet new people. 6. Maintain equipment and supplies utilized for activities. 7. Must be able to work with a variety of craft supplies. 8. Assist with transportation as needed for outings and other possible needs of the residents. 9. Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor, including any on-call responsibilities. 10. Be able to continue activity program in the absence of the Resident Services Director as needed. 11. Show good communication skills both oral and written 12. Strong interpersonal skills 13. Good Time Management skills; detail oriented, well organized. 14. Good Problem Solving skills, patience, and integrity. 15. Must show flexibility with work schedule. 16. Driving Responsibilities:
Transporting Residents - Assist resident's board and disembark vehicles. May also involve escorting residents into buildings. Assist with Outings - Assisting Activities staff while out of building with residents. Includes escorting into buildings, loading and unloading walkers and wheelchairs, and other duties as needed. Safety Awareness — Maintain clean, safe-operating vehicles. Inspecting vehicles prior to driving each day. Alerting staff when low on fuel. Drive in a safe manner following all traffic rules Refrain from texting or utilizing cell phone while driving Coordinate appointments with physicians, nursing and activities Chart out appropriate routes utilizing MapQuest or GPS Utilize tie downs appropriately for wheelchairs. Maintain a Vehicle Transportation Log. Physical Job Requirements To fulfill job requirements, associate must be able to perform key physical task for extended periods of time. When supporting, lifting or transferring residents, proper body mechanics and safety measures must be used. Transport resident to and from activities. Drive residents on outings. In a typical eight- hour day, associate will: Stand/walk up to eight hours a day Sit up to two hours a day Frequently support up to 70 pounds Occasionally lift/carry up to 15 pounds Frequently kneel, bend, and reach Secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting of residents as needed
