Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods. Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; document findings accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Provide emotional support and effective communication to patients, families, and healthcare team members to foster trust and understanding. Maintain a clean, safe environment by following aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care and infection control practices. Assist with specialized care needs including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, hospice support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities. Use patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts safely while adhering to safe lifting practices and manual handling protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals—including ICU, trauma centers, PICUs—and outpatient clinics to ensure comprehensive patient care. Support emergency situations by applying basic life support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed. Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA guidelines while managing medical records and electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems). Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program. Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including long-term care facilities, hospitals (ICU, trauma centers), assisted living or home care settings. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care procedures relevant to geriatrics, pediatrics, critical care, or specialty units like emergency medicine or surgical wards. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; experience with medical documentation is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper techniques; physically capable of supporting patients during transfers or mobility assistance. Strong caregiver communication skills demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations; understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Additional desirable qualifications include experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, ICU experience, hospice or palliative care knowledge, Level I & II trauma center experience, working with infectious diseases or working with children and disabled populations.
