JOB SUMMARY
Helps to facilitate functions of the department assigned/floated to by performing duties and responsibilities as described. Acts as a tertiary member of the nursing team, which includes the nurse and CNA. Augments basic appropriate nursing duties under supervision of the nurse and CNA. Provides basic communication with the public, various hospital departments, and nursing personnel. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Aids the unit clerk, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination. 2. Performs other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.). 3. Performs stocking of patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis. 4. Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met (i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc.) that are appropriate under their scope of practice and under the direct supervision of the bedside nurse or CNA. 5. Demonstrates ability to handle patients safely under direct supervision of a nurse and utilizes proper body mechanics and techniques 6. Assists with distribution and clearing of dietary trays. 7. Transports appropriate patients and other appropriate items as needed. 8. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel with patient complaints of needs/pain. 9. Demonstrates ability to communicate basic needs/information to co-workers, patients, and other individuals. 10. Performs duties of 1:1 sitter for patient safety under policies and scope of practice.

Qualifications Education/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent. Current BLS certification. Successful completion of a certified nurse assistant program within 6 months of hire.
