Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and transfer methods. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing memory care techniques and behavioral health strategies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I & II), and surgical units to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Assist with medical procedures like phlebotomy and catheter care while maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Facilitate patient transfers using safe lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer methods; support mobility in long-term care, assisted living, or home & community care settings. Document all patient interactions thoroughly within EMR/EHR systems, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and legal requirements. Support patients' emotional well-being through compassionate communication and caregiving skills tailored to pediatric, geriatric, or behavioral health needs. Maintain a safe environment by following infection control procedures, practicing manual handling safety, and adhering to hospital policies for infectious disease care. Qualifications Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders, and those requiring hospice or memory care. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS/CPR). Experience working in various healthcare settings such as hospitals (including trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, outpatient clinics or home care environments. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical documentation is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and demonstrate manual handling techniques for patient transfers. Strong caregiving skills complemented by excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and families. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines; understanding of aseptic techniques and infection prevention practices. Critical thinking skills combined with the ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments such as ICU or emergency departments.
