Role Overview:

Performs as a first assistant during surgical procedures in the operating room, collaborating closely with surgeons and the perioperative team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides intraoperative patient care as a first assistant, conducting pre-operative assessments and analyzing data to determine nursing diagnoses. Supports surgical team efficiency by considering safety, effectiveness, and cost factors in care planning and delivery. Monitors patient responses, administers medications per standards, and manages individualized perioperative care plans. Participates in professional development, incorporates research into practice, and advocates for patient safety. Engages in ethical decision-making, patient and family education, and provides leadership within the professional setting.

Qualifications & Skills:

RN license with a nursing diploma or associate's degree; 2-5 years of experience preferred. Must possess CNOR certification; bachelor's degree in nursing and Certified First Assistant credentials are preferred. Strong collaboration, critical thinking, and ethical practice skills required.

Additional Details:

This PRN role involves 8-hour days, primarily from 7AM to 3:30PM, with a 45-minute call time. The position operates within a full-service hospital equipped with dedicated operating rooms and a call coverage team. The role emphasizes professional growth, commitment to quality care, and adherence to standards.
