Position Overview:

This is a high-volume, fast-paced role designed for a proactive, high-energy professional. The Ophthalmic Surgery Assistant keeps our rapid eye-surgery rotation moving smoothly. This role anticipates team needs, speeds up patient transitions, and maintains the highest standards of safety. Key duties include preparing eye-surgery stretchers, admitting patients, and providing wheels-out discharge care.

Key Responsibilities:

Rapid Admissions & Setup Stretcher Preparation:

Rapidly clean, disinfect, and reset specialized eye stretchers and headrests between cases.

Intake Support:

Safely admit patients, check initial vital signs, and help them prepare for eye surgery.

Pre-Op Drops Preparation:

Ensure patient charts and basic pre-op setup materials are ready for the RN.

Fast-Paced Patient Logistics Active Navigation:

Transport patients quickly and safely via stretcher or wheelchair between pre-op, the OR, and recovery.

Wheels-to-Car Discharge:

Escort post-op patients directly to their vehicle and assist with safe car transfers.

Proactive Pacing:

Monitor the active surgical schedule to minimize gaps and keep the room timeline on track.

Team Coordination & Safety Anticipate Needs:

Readily identify what the RN or surgeon needs next based on the flow of the surgical day.

Infection Prevention:

Adhere strictly to hand-hygiene and environmental cleaning codes to prevent cross-contamination.

Immediate Escalation:

Recognize and immediately report any changes in a patient's comfort, anxiety, or vital signs to the RN. ________________________________________

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Fast-Paced Environment:

Must thrive in a high-volume, quick-turnover ambulatory surgical setting.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to stand, walk, push stretchers, and bend continuously throughout a fast shift.

Situational Awareness:

Must remain highly alert, anticipating the next patient move before being asked ________________________________________

QUALIFICATIONS

Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), or equivalent clinical training.

Basic Life Support:

Current BLS certification. Experience and Other Requirements Experience in a high-volume clinic or fast-paced surgical center is highly preferred. ________________________________________

Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation. Demonstrates proficiency with applicable electronic medical record and computer systems.

Pay:

$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
