In this vital role, you will assist individuals with daily activities, promote independence, and ensure their comfort and safety in their own homes or assisted living environments. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with clients, utilizing your caregiving skills to enhance quality of life while adhering to home healthcare regulations and best practices. Responsibilities Support patients with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, hospice/end-of-life care, and memory care. Operate patient transfer methods safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts; ensure proper patient positioning and safety during transfers. Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding sensitive medical information. Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe environment for clients. Document all patient interactions, medical records, and care activities thoroughly using electronic documentation systems. Communicate effectively with clients, family members, healthcare teams, and case managers to coordinate care plans. Follow protocols for emergency response, including first aid, CPR, basic life support (BLS), and responding appropriately to medical emergencies. Requirements Proven experience working as a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), preferably in home healthcare or assisted living settings. Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and vital signs monitoring. Experience working with geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease is highly desirable. Ability to operate EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation; familiarity with home health agency regulations is a plus. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Certification in CPR/BLS and first aid; ongoing training in hospice or end-of-life care is advantageous. Strong communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient personal care assistance while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Flexibility to work live-in shifts or on-call hours as needed; experience in long-term care or home & community care is preferred. Knowledge of home health care assistance standards including medication management, infection control practices, and patient safety protocols. Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age Current CNA license, Home Health Aide certification Reliable transportation, valid Indiana driver's license, and current auto insurance Able to pass a background check Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills Ability to safely operate a lift/Hoyer for patient transfers Why Comfort Home Health?
