Overview Life Care Center of Michigan City is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) to join our team. This vital role involves providing direct patient care, supporting residents' daily needs, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to quality care, excellent communication skills, and experience working with diverse patient populations, including those with complex medical needs. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity. Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury for residents and staff. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans. Assist with basic medical procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy as trained. Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) certification required; additional certifications such as CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred. Prior experience in long-term care facilities or senior care environments highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks) systems for accurate documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and infection control practices essential for quality patient care. Ability to perform manual handling and heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively within diverse teams and with patients of varying needs.
