GED CNA Full Job Description Primary Purpose:
The Nursing Staffing Coordinator - CNA is responsible for coordinating and maintaining nursing team member schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and coverage based on the needs of the community. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing, nursing supervisors, Human Resources, team members, and staffing agencies to address scheduling needs, attendance, staffing changes, and related administrative functions. The Team Member Scheduler promotes efficient staffing operations while supporting quality care, resident safety, and a positive experience for residents and team members.
Qualifications/Skills Needed:
High School Diploma or GED. Must be a current, licensed CNA in the state of Kentucky. CMA/CMT preferred. Team members scheduling experience with long term care background preferred. Experience using electronic scheduling software. Specific experience using Paycom preferred. Excellent phone and interpersonal skills; able to be diplomatic. Ability to organize work by anticipating needs and priorities. Maintains high visibility and availability while at work. Handle multiple demands and meet competing deadlines. Will require on-call availability. Primary Duties (Essential Functions) include but are not limited to: Assists with attendance tracking, including maintaining tardy and absence calendars. Reports to Director of Nursing all team members with excess tardiness or absenteeism in accordance with policy. Documents team member's absences and staffing agency cancellations and follows up appropriately. Provides floor coverage as a CNA or CMA (CMT) as needed. Maintains an updated PRN list and distributes to required staff. Collaborates with Human Resources and Director of Nursing when scheduling modified work duty employees in accordance with work restrictions and process. Assists team members in accurate completion of forms (i.e. leave and day off requests, Miss Punch forms, etc.) pertinent to scheduling and staffing. Assists with payroll functions in a timely manner. Completes bi-weekly nursing shift schedules coordinating requests to ensure appropriate coverage of units. Completes and posts daily schedules. Performs duties pertaining to staffing and assist nursing supervisory personnel as necessary. Works cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility team members, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers. Answers team member's calls regarding staffing/scheduling functions. Prepares written correspondence as necessary, including team member's grievances pertaining to scheduling. Ensures newly hired nursing team members have schedules on day of orientation. Consults with nursing department team members and supervisors concerning the staffing/scheduling needs. Makes recommendations to Director of Nursing concerning staffing and scheduling of team members. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the community. Ensures administrative functions are carried out promptly for an efficient operation. Assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished. Coordinates services provided by staffing agencies and maintains staffing agency records (sign-in forms, staffing needs, contracts and counseling). Ensure agency staff are provided orientation, completing orientation records. Observes Residents' Rights and safety policies. Attend education and competency training programs and conferences as needed. Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. Handles work-related tasks in a professional and positive manner. Works collaboratively with other members of the administrative and caregiving team to promote quality healthcare. Other duties as assigned, performed in an effective, timely and professional manner.
