Job Description
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans, with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. The Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate and experienced RN Assistant Director of Nursing A to lead and support staff in providing high-quality care to our honored veterans. Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following: Five years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A bachelor's degree in nursing plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A master's degree in nursing or public health plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR A doctorate in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse. Job Duties:
Serves as the day shift House Supervisor. Makes daily rounds on the Nursing Units. Receives reports from each nursing care unit and evaluates if nursing staff need to be altered or if other issues need to be addressed. Supervises, reviews, and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff in the delivery of resident care and also makes recommendations as needed to improve performance. Organizes, delivers, and evaluates in-services to enhance the performance of staff in their delivery of resident care. Acts as consultant, demonstrator, and resource person to nursing personnel and conducts Quality Assurance audits as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Makes nursing staff schedules monthly and assists with ensuring adequate coverage of nursing staff on units. Assumes the duties of the Nursing Director in her absence. Serves as the Wound Care Committee Chairperson. Evaluates the care delivery for all wounds and evaluates the progress of wound healing.Position-Specific Details:
