Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) working in a community-based setting, providing compassionate care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or memory care requirements. This part-time position offers weekend shifts from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, allowing you to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. As a DSP, you will be a vital part of creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that promotes independence and well-being for those we serve. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals. Administer medications following proper protocols and maintain accurate medication administration records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support residents with meal preparation, cooking, and maintaining proper nutrition tailored to individual dietary needs. Implement and follow personalized care plans designed by healthcare teams to promote health, safety, and quality of life. Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and prevent injury during mobility assistance. Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning routines, sanitation practices, and adherence to infection control standards. Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs that foster community involvement and mental stimulation. Document patient observations, progress notes, and incident reports accurately while respecting privacy laws such as HIPAA. Collaborate with team members including nurses, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care strategies. Experience Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home health environments preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care or hospice care is highly desirable. Experience assisting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to connect effectively with residents. Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and patient observation is beneficial. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Previous caregiving experience involving medication administration and care plan implementation is advantageous. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are a plus. Join us in making a positive impact every day!
